A 19-year-old man is accused of shooting into an occupied Newport News home earlier this month, an official said.

Police responded to gunshots heard in the 13200 block of Aqueduct Drive on Feb. 5, according to spokesman Master Police Officer Brandon Maynard.

There, officers spoke with a 20-year-old Newport News woman who reported damage from gunfire. She also said that a person she knows shot at her, Maynard said. No injuries were reported, he said.

Officers arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the investigation on Feb. 10, Maynard said.

Nazaya Gonzalez, of the 700 block of Kings Ridge Drive, is charged with maliciously shooting into an occupied building; attempt to commit non-capital felony; and reckless handling of a firearm, Maynard said.
