$475 Million Defamation Suit Against CNN Is Only The Beginning For Trump

“…I will never stop fighting for the truth and for the future of our country.”

Donald Trump, an ex-president, sued CNN, alleging the outlet defamed his character and was doing so to protect himself from a potential run for president in 2024.

The suit was filed Monday in U.S. District Court Fort Lauderdale. It alleges that CNN attempted to use its influence to denigrate Trump politically and to prevent him from running for reelection.

Trump was accused of being a “long-time opponent” of CNN. This is “not because CNN does a poor job of reporting news, but because CNN aims to create news.”

“CNN’s dissuasion campaign against the Plaintiff in the form of libel & slander has only escalated over the past months as CNN fears that Plaintiff will run for President in 2024,” reads the suit. CNN attempted to defame the Plaintiff by using ever more scandalous, false and defamatory labels like ‘racist, Russian lackey and ’insurrectionist’ to try to shift the political balance to the Left. ‘”

According to the suit Trump seeks $475 Million in punitive damages.

Trump in July notified the outlet of his intent to sue for “repeatedly offensive statements.” Trump also warned that he would sue any other outlets he believes have “defamed or defrauded” the public about the 2020 presidential elections results.

Trump declared in July that he had informed CNN of his intent to file suit over repeated defamatory statements made against him. “I will also start actions against other media outlets which have defamed my character and defrauded people regarding the overwhelming evidence that fraud occurred during the 2020 elections.” I will continue fighting for truth and for the country’s future.
